Onsite Access:
The library operates as part of the NYU Health Sciences
Libraries and primarily serves the staff of Bellevue Hospital Center and NYU Medical Center. Access is permitted with a valid photo ID from Bellevue or NYU Medical Center. Area medical school faculty may use materials onsite.
Computers:
Fifteen computers are available with access to NYULMC resources.

In the Bellevue Medical Library, at the NYU-networked computers, go to library.med.nyu.edu to access
- 11,481 e-journals and 8,920 e-books
- 229 leading clinical and biomedical databases including MEDLINE, EMBASE, UpToDate.
From the Bellevue-networked computers, go to library.med.nyu.edu/bellevue to access
- over 6,000 e-journals and 39 e-books
- 20 biomedical and clinical databases including MEDLINE, CINAHL, MICROMEDEX, and UpToDate

Services
Library Orientations:
Library staff provide monthly orientations in conjunction with Human Resources to introduce users to the resources and library services.
Contact the library at 212-562-6535 to arrange an individual orientation.
Telephone Assistance:
Call the library’s main line at 212-562-6535 or call Ehrman Medical Library at 212-263-5397.
Patient Care Searches:
Medical librarians support Bellevue Hospital staff with search services for clinical and research information.
Request a search by completing a form on the Ehrman Medical Library web site.
Select "Services," then
Ask a Librarian.
Call Ehrman Medical Library at 212-263-5397 for clinical emergencies. Librarians will contact users to determine follow-up.
Education Programs:
Medical librarians provide training to departments, hospital administrators, and groups in subject areas, evidence-based medicine, techniques of information management, or research methodology appropriate to the subject area.
Classes are held at Ehrman Medical Library, 550 First Ave., and in the Center for Workplace Learning at Bellevue Hospital
Center.

Interlibrary Loan:
ILL service is available free of charge for Bellevue Hospital Center staff for materials not available at the Bellevue Medical Library. To use this service, staff has to be registered with the library. Patrons with a Kerberos ID may request a book online using this form. Bellevue patrons without a Kerberos ID may come to the library and fill out the form in person.
Rush service and pull & copy service are available for $5 per article.
Sync Your Palm at the Library
Try our infrared syncing port located in the Library. The IR port syncs your Palm or updates channels.
Policies and User Code of Conduct
Use and Protection of Collections
Library users will respect the collection, refraining from:
Damaging or mutilating materials in any way, including tearing, cutting out, marking, or writing on pages
Theft
Unauthorized removal of materials
Consumption of food; beverages must be in a spill-proof container
Improperly disposing of trash
Use and Protection of Library Facility and Equipment
Users must leave at closing and discontinue all use of equipment after closing announcements
Users must evacuate during drills and emergencies
Users must abide by regulations regarding computer use as outlined in Responsibilities of All NYU Computer, Data, and Network Users
Users may not abuse or vandalize equipment
Library Environment
Library users are expected to exhibit professional conduct while using the library and
demonstrate consideration of others, refraining from:
Using cell phones while in the library
Disrespectful behavior towards library users or library staff
Leaving children unattended or unaccompanied
Posting flyers, brochures, or posters without library approval
Library Policies/Fees
Compliance with library policies, and state and federal law, means that users:
Must comply with copyright law
May not misrepresent or falsify identification
Must abide by library policies regarding overdue items, materials recalled by the library, and the payment of fines and/or fees for
lost or damaged library materials
Circulation Policies and Loan Periods
A valid Bellevue Hospital Center or NYULMC photo ID is required in order to check out materials. Volunteers and visitors may not check out materials.

Digital Scanner:
Hospital staff may use our Konica Minolta Di3510 to scan documents at up to 600x600 dpi resolution or an HP Scanjet located at the rear of the library.
Library Carrels:
Hospital staff may use four study carrels located at the rear of the library.
Meeting Room:
Hospital staff may reserve a meeting room, with seating for up to 20 people, for work-related projects and meetings.
Special arrangements must be made for laptop and projector use. Please submit the room reservation form via the
Bellevue Medical Library website.
Photocopies:
May be made at the self-serve photocopier, which uses copycards. Copies cost $0.10 per page. The library sells pre-valued copy cards at the service desk for $2.00 and up.
No refunds are issued on cards after purchase.
Printing:
Users may print to a black and white or color laser printer.
The charge is $0.10 per page for black and
white and $1.00 per page for color, using the same cards that are required for copying.
