In honor of Black HIstory Month, the library has posted (in the glassed bulletin board to the right of the library’s main entrance) brief biographies of notable Black physicians, nurses, and scientists, including Dr. May Edward Chinn, the first African American to graduate from NYU School of Medicine (then Bellevue Hospital Medical Center) and Dr. Randolf M. Chase, Jr., the first African American Associate Professor of Medicine at NYU. For additional information on African American accomplishments in medicine and science, see the National Library of Medicine and Duke University, Medical Center Library.
