- Clinical Evidence - BMJ - Full Text
(NYU Community)
A compendium of evidence on the effects of common clinical interventions, published by the British Medical Journal Publishing Group. Provides a concise account of the current state of knowledge, ignorance, and uncertainty about the prevention & treatment of a wide range of clinical conditions, based on searches of the literature.
- Evidence Based Medicine Reviews - Ovid
(NYU Community)
Simultaneously search the four databases indented below. There are links from the MEDLINE database to each of the databases in EBM Reviews that will retrieve the corresponding EBM Reviews document.
- ACP Journal Club - Full Text
Contains both abstracts and expert commentaries from the fields of internal medicine, family practice, pediatrics, psychiatry, surgery and obstetrics & gynecology.
- Cochrane Database of Systematic Review - Full Text
Includes the full text of the regularly updated systematic reviews of the effects of healthcare prepared by The Cochrane Collaboration. The reviews are presented in two types: completed reviews and protocols (topics in the process of being reviewed).
- Database of Abstracts of Effectiveness - Full Text
Contains critical assessments of systematic reviews from a variety of medical journals. DARE records cover topics such as diagnosis, prevention, rehabilitation, screening, and treatment.
- Cochrane Controlled Trials Registry
Includes the database records of controlled trials studied to produce the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews and Database of Abstracts of Effectiveness.
- Cochrane Library
(NYU community)
A strong resource for questions of therapy, the Cochrane Library contains the
following: Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDSR), Database of Abstracts
of Effectiveness (DARE), and Cochrane Controlled Trials Register (CCTR). Plus:
Health Technology Assessment Database (HTA), NHS Economic Evaluation Database
(abstracts of economic evaluations of healthcare interventions), The Cochrane
Database of Methodology Reviews and The Cochrane Methodology Register.
- MEDLINE - Ovid
(NYU Community)
The Worlds' premiere biomedical database. Users can search for EBMR reviews which limits retrieval to EBM databases listed above.
- Natural Standard
Evidence-based information about complementary and alternative therapies designed for clinicians to facilitate patient care decision-making. Validated rating scales are used to evaluate the quality of available evidence. Information is incorporated into comprehensive monographs which are designed to facilitate clinical decision making. All monographs undergo blinded editorial and peer review prior to inclusion in Natural Standard databases.
- PIER
PIER is a Web-based decision-support tool designed for rapid point-of-care delivery of up-to-date, evidence-based guidance for clinicians. PIER is a collection of modules divided into five topic types: Diseases, Screening and Prevention, Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Ethical and Legal Issues, and Procedures.
The disease-based modules are PIER's core. Each module presents a series of succinct guidance statements and practice recommendations, supported by more detailed levels of pertinent rationale and evidence. There are links to abstracts and the full text of carefully selected references; to a comprehensive drug resource; other ACP knowledge resources including its guidelines, MKSAP, Annals of Internal Medicine, ACP Journal Club, and Clinical Evidence; and other resources including PubMed and various Web sites. Tables, figures, algorithms, and video and audio clips are also included. A disease-based module includes the following sections: Prevention, Screening, Diagnosis, Consultation for Diagnosis, Non-drug Therapy, Patient Education, Consultation for Management, Follow-up.
- PubMed (National Library of Medicine)
Free version of MEDLINE database. PubMed includes a "Clinical Queries" feature. This is a series of filters on specificity or sensitivity of therapy, diagnosis, etiology, or prognosis for MEDLINE. The filters are based on an article by R. Brian Haynes et al of McMaster University.
- TRIP Database - Turning Research into Practice
TRIP brings together the key evidence-based healthcare resources available on the Internet. Eight major categories are searched by the TRIP search engine: Evidence based, guidelines, general peer-reviewed journals, query-answering services, specialist peer-reviewed journals, e-textbooks, medical images and patient information leaflets. The Evidence-based category covers 32 major resources including the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Clinical Evidence, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, and Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness.
