American College of Medical Genetics
Basic information about the organization, with sections for online educational materials, policy statements, job postings, and events. The Membership Directory is also available from this site. There is also a members-only section requiring a login for access to additional information. The public information sections for practitioners and patients are still under development.
American Society of Human Genetics
Membership organization for a wide range of professionals working in the field of human genetics. The site provides links to policy statements, teaching and learning publications, meeting information, position announcements, and ASHG publications. Also available through this site is the Guide to North American Graduate and Postgraduate Training Programs in Human Genetics for students.
DOEgenomes.org - Genome programs of the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science
Extensive information about the Human Genome Project, Genomics: GTL Project, and Microbial Genome Program; considerable access to educational materials in a variety of formats for both teachers and students; information about meetings and training courses, ethical, legal, and social issues, and a special section pertaining to medicine.
GDB Human Genome Database
Currently hosted by RTI International, an independent nonprofit organization for scientific research and technology development, the GDB is maintained as a public resource for high quality genetic and genomic information. Throughout is history, data included in the GDB has been subjected to a peer-review process and is curated by world-class leaders in human genetics.
GeneTests
From the University of Washington, Seattle, this site focuses on genetics testing for diagnosis, management, and counseling for patient care and personal decision-making. The site provides online access to GeneReviews, expert-authored disease reviews accompanied by an illustrated glossary of medical genetics terms; an international directory of genetic testing laboratories; and an international directory of genetics and prenatal diagnosis clinics.
Genetics Society of America
Primarily for scientists and educators, this organization sponsors meetings focused on key organisms used in genetic research, and serves on the Joint Steering Committee for Public Policy to advocate for federal funding for basic biomedical research. Site also includes a searchable Online Directory and job listings.
International Federation of Human Genetics Societies
Basic information about the Federation with quick links to human genetics societies from throughout the world that are members of the Federation.
International Society of Nurses in Genetics
Basic organizational site devoted to human genetics as a nursing specialty, this site includes documents prepared by ISONG members, policy statements, and lists of links to other Web resources for nurses.
National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI)
Formerly the National Center for Human Genome Research (NCHGR), NHGRI is part of the National Institutes of Health. This site provides information about NIH research programs and funding opportunities; career information and training opportunities for groups ranging from high school students to professionals; basic online educational resources such as a glossary of genetic terms with an audio pronunciation guide, fact sheets, and basic genetics learning modules; and overviews of genetic diseases, medical research, policy, and ethical issues.

American Board of Medical Genetics
Primary examining, certifying, and accrediting organization for medical genetics. Site provides basic information about certification, re-certification, and current Diplomates. Job listings for positions in the field of medical genetics are also available.
Guide to North American Graduate and Postgraduate Training Programs in Human Genetics
Program descriptions for undergraduate and graduate students. Institutions are also able to update their profiles through this site. The Guide is updated semiannually. Also available through the American Society for Human Genetics website.

Disease InfoSearch from Genetic Alliance
The Genetic Alliance is a coalition of hundreds of genetic advocacy organizations, health professionals, clinics, hospitals, and companies. Their genetic disease database helps users located information about specific genetic conditions, locate advocacy groups, and get updates on management and treatment.
Genetics Home Reference
The National Library of Medicine's web site for consumer information about genetic conditions and the genes or chromosomes responsible for those conditions. Information is accessible by condition name and category; gene name, symbol, and category; with basic information about each pair of human chromosomes. Additional resources include a guide to understanding genetics and a glossary of genetic and medical terms.

NOAH – New York Online Access to Health
Bilingual English/Spanish health information site for consumers produced by New York City library organizations. NOAH also provides links to local and regional community resources. Information on genetic disorders is not currently available in Spanish.
