- Images MD:
Provides access to over 50,000 medical images, for use in diagnosis and as a teaching tool. With free registration, you can create and manage your own slide sets using the “MySlides” feature.
- Web Path:
A product of the Florida State University College of Medicine, WebPath provides access to over 1,900 images as well as text, tutorials, laboratory examination exercises and self-assessment examinations. WebPath offers a case of the week, and focuses on general pathology, systemic pathology, and AIDS pathology. The overall goal of the site is to advance medical education in pathology.
- National Cancer Institute Bethesda System Web Atlas:
A carefully selected atlas of 349 images, representing a range of morphologic findings presented in conventional smears and liquid preparations. There are numerous ways to search the atlas, and a self-test to gauge proficiency. Morphologic criteria are based upon the 2001 Bethesda System Terminology.
- ImmunoQuery:
A differential diagnosis tool for pathologists; requires free registration. The site lists the antibodies that can gauge the difference between tumors, gauges the effectiveness of these antibodies, and provides links to journal literature. Frequently updated.
- Databases on the Web—Clinical Pathology:
A portal to thirteen (13) clinical pathology image databases, maintained by the open access publisher BioMed Central. Listings are cross-posted if they are also appropriate for other subject areas (such as “Blood Disorders.”) The site also notes which databases are “curated”—meaning a formal selection process is in place—and which databases link to other sources.

- ARUP Consult
A guide to laboratory test selection and interpretation, sponsored by the University of Utah’s ARUP Laboratories. This tool works with numerous devices. ARUP provides multiple ways to access their content, all at no charge.
- MEDLINE/PubMed for Handhelds
A streamlined version of the National Library of Medicine’s (NLM) MEDLINE/PubMed interface, designed for handhelds and available at no charge. You can do a free text PubMed search, or more structured searching for specific types of clinical queries.
- JournalToGo
A good way to keep current regarding medical literature and healthcare news. Subscribers select "channels" for the type of content they would like to monitor. Some channels are sponsored by pharmaceutical companies, some by JournalToGo. This product works with Palm and Pocket PC devices. No charge; registration required.
- Doctor’s doctor
This site helps patients understand their test results and diagnoses.
- Doctorfungus
The searchable database of 600+ images promotes understanding of fungal infections and mycology.
- WHO Classification of Tumours ICD-O Codes and Staging Systems
This site allows you to search and lookup ICD-O Codes Tumours of the Nervous and Digestive Systems, Soft Tissue and Bone, Haematopoietic and Lymphoid Tissues.
- Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS)
CMS oversees the operation of Medicare, Medicaid, and the CHIP. It is also responsible for implementing the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments and various provisions of HIPAA.
- ARUP Lab Test Guide
The searchable guide to laboratory test selection and interpretation. Search by Clinical Background, Indications for Ordering, References, Tests Available. ARUP Consult replaced the Guide to Clinical Laboratory Testing. Available for PDAs.
- National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) Resources
A resource primer listing resources by category for three NCBI branches: Computational Biology Branch (CBB), Information Engineering Branch (IEB), and Information Resources Branch (IRB).
- North American Association of Central Cancer Registries, Inc.
This organization develops and promotes uniform data standards for cancer registration; certifies population-based registries; aggregates and publishes data from central cancer registries; and promotes the use of cancer surveillance data and systems for cancer control and epidemiologic research in the US and Canada.
- Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program at Wadsworth Center, NYS Department of Health
This center operates the most comprehensive laboratory licensure program for clinical and environmental laboratories, and blood and tissue banks in New York.
