Collections Overview

The Ehrman Medical Library adds materials to its collections through a
selection process based on both real and perceived demand.

Measures used in the selection process are:

• the close monitoring and annual review of the circulation and in-house use of materials.
• Interlibrary loan requests, to identify additional materials in high demand.
• Electronic resources are purchased based on the reputation of the print-equivalents, known trends in research, and recommendations by NYU personnel.
• Expressed and anticipated research needs based on patron recommendations, repeated requests for materials, or the known relevance of materials in a given subject area to the mission of the Medical Center are also considered.

Materials Recommendations

Materials are purchased within the annual budget of the library to give the highest cost-value. NYU faculty, students and staff are invited to recommend materials for the Library to acquire. All formats will be considered, including books, journals, audiovisuals, web sites and databases. To make a recommendation, fill out Suggest a Title.
