Individual Program | Institutional/Corporate Program

The Ehrman Medical Library is a private library supporting the missions of the New York University School of Medicine and the NYU Medical Center. The Medical Information Source is a program to provide access and borrowing privileges as well as other library services for qualified health professionals outside of the NYU community.

How to Subscribe
Please complete an Individual Program Application form and fax it to the attention of the Circulation Supervisor at (212) 263-6534, or drop it off at the Circulation Desk. You will be contacted within one week regarding approval of your membership. At that time, please bring your fee payment to the Circulation Desk and receive your bar-coded identification card.

Membership Fee

Per Year: $1000

Per Month: $100

Access and Borrowing Privileges

• Unrestricted use of library materials on the premises.
• Onsite-only access to electronic resources including MEDLINE, Cancerlit, EMBASE, HealthStar, CINAHL and Psycinfo. Access to electronic books and journals is available onsite only.
• Borrowing limited to a maximum of ten (10) books at a time. Journals may not be borrowed, but may be used onsite.

Reference Services

• Library orientation tours and instruction in the use of MEDCat (our online catalog) and electronic resources.
• Ready reference service at the Information Desk.
• In-depth bibliographic database searches performed by a professional Librarian for $25.00 plus any additional online charges. Priority will be given to the Library's primary clientele when professional time is limited.

Document Delivery Services(DDS)

• Self-service photocopy machines at $0.10 per page plus $0.50 for the required copycard.
• Interlibrary Loan (ILL) at $25.00 per article for journal articles that are not in the Ehrman Medical Library's collection or for articles in storage.
• Pull-and-copy services at $20.00 per article for articles from our collection.

The Medical Information Source identification card must be presented to library personnel when requesting a service. It is not transferable, and it will be confiscated if the bearer is not the individual named on the card. Like all library users, the subscriber is bound by the regulations of the Ehrman Medical Library's Code of Conduct. Any breach of the Code will result in immediate termination of access privileges.
