Bound Journals Moving to Remote Storage

You will notice quite a bit of activity in the Ehrman Medical Library stacks during the week of March 17, 2008. We are moving approximately 44,000 journal volumes to remote storage to make way for much needed study and teaching space in the stacks level.

All bound journals prior to the year 2000 will be moved to storage. Many of these titles are available electronically. You can check the availability of a title via our electronic resources page. Simply search for the journal title.

If the journal issue that you need is not available electronically, please complete an interlibrary loan request form and the article will be emailed to you as a PDF attachment.

Movers will be removing volumes between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. The current study space in the stacks area will remain accessible during the move. However, throughout the week there may be periods when sections of the library stacks are unavailable. Please see a staff member at the library’s circulation desk to retrieve issues dated 2000 and later from the work area. All issues prior to 2000 must be obtained electronically or via interlibrary loan effective March 17, 2008.

NYUMC’s Learning and Study Space Committee, a group that is investigating study and learning space throughout the medical center is busy at work creating a recommendation for the best use of the library and other areas in the medical center. The renovated stacks area is sure to be a very pleasant space, conducive to individual study, collaboration, and teaching. We will post the renovation plans and schedule on the library’s Web site once they become available.
