What does this status mean - "Publication Not in System"?

The NIH Public Access Policy requires that all publications resulting from NIH funding are deposited to PubMed Central -- the government's public access repository for full-text articles.

(NOTE: PubMed Central is Not the same as PubMed - the NIH index to medical literature.)

To submit your publication to PubMed Central:

  1. Go to the NIH Manuscript Submission System (http://www.nihms.nih.gov/)
  2. Login with your eRA Commons username and password.
  3. Identify the publication title, journal it was published in, and the NIH funding associated with it.
  4. Upload a copy of the accepted final peer-reviewed manuscript [NOTE: This is Not same as the published PDF] and any associated files (e.g., chart, figures).
