What does this status mean - "Awaiting Final Author Approval"?

The NIH Public Access Policy requires that all publications resulting from NIH funding are deposited to PubMed Central -- the government's public access repository for full-text articles.

(NOTE: PubMed Central is Not the same as PubMed - the NIH index to medical literature.)

Your publication is one step away from completed submission in PubMed Central via the NIH Manuscript Submission system. The delegated author would have received an email from nihms-help@ncbi.nlm.nih.gov requesting approval of the web version of the manuscript.

To approve your publication in NIHMS:

  1. Identify the author delegated to approve the manuscript (usually the publications corresponding author)
  2. Instruct the delegated author to log in to NIHMS via their eRA commons or myNCBI account, or follow the link in the email sent to them from nihms-help@ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
  3. Follow the instructions in NIHMS.
