The effect of hysterectomy on the subjective experience of orgasm

Buckingham, Ian D
Presents the clinical vignette of a single female in her mid-forties presenting for psychotherapy with depression related to hysterectomy. The S complained of the absence of uterine contractions during orgasm, a sensation missing since the removal of her uterus. This S's experience is inconsistent with the findings of W. H. Masters and V. E. Johnson (1966) that following hysterectomy most women continue to experience sensations of uterine contraction at orgasm.
