Weinberg M.A.
Periodontal disease is an infectious process initiated by dental plaque that affects the gums or gingiva and the alveolar bone surrounding the teeth. Classification of periodontal disease is divided into gingivitis, which is inflammation of the gingiva without bone loss, and periodontitis, which is a decrease in bone support around the teeth. It is challenging to the dentist to diagnose and treat the disease as early as possible in order to arrest the progression
